United Contractors, Inc. is an Iowa-based highway construction company with over 50 years of experience in the industry. Our primary focus is bridge construction, barrier rail, retaining walls, demolition, and materials recycling. Subsidiary companies are involved in concrete sawing, core drilling, and joint sealing (All Concrete Cutting Co.) and sanitary sewer CIPP relining (United Pipe Renewal).
We are looking for hard-working, highly-motivated, organized, professional, and hands-on Field Engineers for a joint venture bridge and paving construction project in Council Bluffs, IA. Applicants should: have a working knowledge of bridge construction and scheduling software; be able to establish good rapport with employees, subcontractors, suppliers, and owners; and be familiar with DOT specifications. A CDL, OSHA 10-Hour certification, and experience with Microsoft Excel and BlueBeam are preferred , but not required. A degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, or Civil Engineering is desired.
Duties will include: measuring and recording quantities of work performed; submitting pay estimates to the DOT; providing field support; overseeing compliance with the storm water pollution prevention plan; managing the traffic control subcontractor; and taking photos to document work progress and compliance. You will be working out of a field office near the project with the joint venture team.
This position offers an excellent opportunity to grow within our company into a Field Superintendent, Project Manager, or Estimator position. You will have the opportunity to work with experienced staff to help build one of the largest projects ever for the Iowa DOT.
