United Pipe Renewal, Inc. (UPR), a subsidiary of United Contractors, Inc. & Subsidiaries, is a trenchless pipeline repair and relining contractor based in Des Moines, with projects throughout the Midwest and other parts of the country. This "trenchless technology" eliminates the need to dig up yards, streets, and utilities when repairing sanitary sewers.
Duties include: camera & video work of pipelines, cleaning lines with water jetter; measuring and ordering liners; preparing liners for installation; operating a boiler and other related equipment; working in manholes for short periods; driving pickup trucks, straight trucks, trailers; and maintaining installation records as projects progress.
Successful candidates must be able to: supervise a crew of 4 to 5 employees; follow and enforce safety rules; operate all types of equipment; fill out forms and keep track of project-specific information; effectively work with municipalities; plan and coordinate for efficient production; and adapt to various work environments and current technology. A willingness to learn new skills, take on leadership responsibilities, and train others is necessary. A valid drivers license is required. A Class A or B CDL is preferred. Travel for one to two weeks at a time is required, depending on job location. UPR provides training in all aspects of this job description.
