Our business started as a small craft making business in 1988 that led to opening the Pine Needles Quilt Shop in Cresco IA in 1999 and is now the Inspired to Sew store in Cedar Rapids, IA. Inspired to Sew offers everything a sewer or quilter could delight in including high-quality fabric, sewing supplies, patterns, classes, top of the line BERNINA and BABY LOCK and commercial sewing machines, fun and inspiration!

We are looking for team members with an interest in sales who will be very committed to helping our customers to explore their creativity. We will offer training to refine sales skills, customer service skills and grow in an invigorating career.

We will consider candidates for the Retail Sewing Machine Sales position for either full time or part time work. Let us know which you prefer.  All team members’ work schedules include alternating weekends, no evening hours.

An interest in sales and a committed interest in being a person of service are the greatest determiners of success in employment with our company.

**We do NOT require that people know how to sew.** Through on-the-job paid training we are able to teach technical skills, industry vocabulary and provide support in service and education.

Potential Candidates must

  • be proficient with communicating by computer and be proficient in Microsoft Office
  • be able to communicate with clarity and confidence
  • demonstrated confidence in written communication
  • possess confidence in telephone skills
  • have a genuine interest in the sales process
  • have the ability to listen well
  • be able to work to find good solutions for customers
  • be motivated to grow sales
  • be willing to learn new skills in sewing and communicating in a sales environment
  • always supports education and customer service FIRST
  • have 3+ years of successful, direct sales experience
  • have 3+ years of customer service and support experience

Hourly wage is determined by sales experience, skills and motivation of candidates. All team members are part of the planning and building of the team and initiatives. The leadership team at Inspired to Sew works diligently to help all team members find their best skills. Team members who show an interest in growing in leadership and working with confidence and being committed to raising the customer experience in our small, family-owned business are considered for promotion to leadership positions.

Full time team members are eligible for health and dental insurance and PTO.
